Jonathan Misael Chavez - Trumpet 

Jonathan Chavez is a trumpet player based in Edmonton, Alberta. Currently enrolled in music performance at Macewan University, his extensive musical education allows him to adapt to many different styles of music including jazz, pop, hip hop, classical, rock, contemporary and many more. His trumpet playing has given him opportunities to tour Western Canada Playing music festivals across Alberta and British Columbia as well as tour the United Kingdom with different ensembles. Jonathan has also had the opportunity to study under the direction of many local Canadian artists such as Ray Baril, Mike Gardener, Craig Brenan and Joel Gray, as well as international artists such as Wayne Bergeron, Dr. Dale Lonnis, and Bob Mintzer.


Scott Snider - Trombone

Scott Snider is a performer that frequently travels between Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta. Born in Calgary, Scott moved to Edmonton to continue his musical studies after the Mount Royal jazz program was shut down. He is now in his last year in the degree program at MacEwan! He has studied with musicians like Craig Brenan, Raymond Baril, and Kent Sangster. Scott runs and plays in a myriad of different ensembles, doing everything from small combo jazz to playing in an 11 piece punk-funk band. On top of performing Scott also works as a brass clinician for high school students, and writes original music as well.


Max Hoosier - Tenor Saxophone

Max Hoosier is an Edmonton based saxophonist, and recently obtained his Diploma in Jazz and Contemporary Popular Music at MacEwan University. He has studied under great musicians such as Jerrold Dubyk, Craig Brenan, and Ray Baril. He has worked with Grammy Award winners Bob Mintzer and Maria Schneider, as well as Wayne Bergeron and Terell Stafford. Max has performed at the Edmonton International Jazz Festival with the MacEwan Big Band, and at various schools and venues in Cuba back in 2015. He loves playing all sorts of music, and specializes in jazz.


Dana Anderson - Alto Saxophone

Dana Anderson is a saxophonist based in Edmonton, Alberta. Currently working on her degree in Jazz and Contemporary Popular Music performance at MacEwan University, Dana has worked and studied with notable Edmonton jazz artists Marty Majorowicz, Jerrold Dubyk, and Craig Brenan. In her time playing lead alto with the MacEwan big band, she has had the chance to work with great artists such as Wayne Bergeron, Maria Schneider, and Bob Mintzer. Dana also plays alto saxophone with Odyssey, Bare Bones Brass Band, and the YEG Big Band, and she currently has a project in the works playing soprano in a saxophone quartet. Dana enjoys playing all types of music, with jazz and pop as her specialties.


Laura Anne - Baritone Saxophone

Laura Taylor is a saxophonist from Edmonton, Alberta. Laura has been playing baritone and tenor saxophones for eight years, and currently attends Macewan University where she is working towards a degree of music majoring in performance on baritone saxophone. She has studied under notable Edmonton musicians such as Dan Davis, Raymond Baril, and Jerrold Dubyk. While playing in the Macewan University big band Laura has had the opportunity to perform with world renowned artists such as Bob Mintzer. She has also performed with local groups such as The 9’s, Bare Bones Brass Band, and Trace Italian and is currently focusing on a new saxophone quartet.
